after crown and bridge appointments
Dental crowns and bridges typically require two to three appointments to complete. During the first visit, the teeth are carefully prepared, and impressions or digital scans are taken to create your custom restoration. Temporary crowns or bridges are then placed to protect the teeth while your permanent restoration is being fabricated. Because the teeth are anesthetized, your tongue, lips, and roof of the mouth may remain numb for a short time. Please avoid eating or drinking hot beverages until the numbness has completely worn off.
If a temporary crown becomes dislodged, contact our office immediately at Smile Professionals Dentistry Phone Number (714) 771-2600. Be sure to bring the temporary crown with you so we can re-cement it. Keeping the temporary in place is important, as it prevents other teeth from shifting and ensures the proper fit of your final restoration.
To protect your temporary crowns or bridges, avoid sticky foods (such as chewing gum) and hard foods, and try to chew on the opposite side of your mouth whenever possible. Brush your teeth as usual, but floss carefully—slide the floss out from the side rather than pulling upward, as this may loosen the temporary crown.
Some sensitivity to temperature and pressure is normal after each appointment. This should gradually improve within a few weeks after the final restoration is placed. Mild over-the-counter pain medications may also be used as directed by our office.
If your bite feels uneven, if you experience persistent pain, or if you have any other concerns, please call our office at Smile Professionals Dentistry Phone Number (714) 771-2600.
